For children to become fluent readers they must become increasingly automatic at reading single words, and the only way to achieve this is decoding words multiple times. With three ways to play, the aim of this game is to practise decoding words to build single word fluency.
Have fun playing Ka-Blam!, Go Fox! and Read and Grab with these sets of playing cards aligned to the Little Learners Love Literacy© Stages and Fox Kid decodable chapter books. But watch out for the exploding card ... Ka-BLAM! … Game over!
This pack includes the following games:
- Ka-BLAM! Box 1 practises the simple alphabetic code in consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) words. Aligned to Stages 1-4.
- Ka-BLAM! Box 2 practises words with double letter graphemes, adjacent consonants, and two-syllable words. Aligned to Stages +4 and 5.
- Ka-BLAM! Box 3 practises words containing consonant digraphs (two letters, one sound) and multisyllabic words. Aligned to Stage 6.
- Ka-BLAM! Box 4 practises words containing vowel digraphs (two letters, one sound) and multisyllabic words. Aligned to Stage 7 Unit 1.
